BTG Advisory recognised in Yorkshire Dealmaker Awards

Martin Barron - BTG Advisory partner

The BTG Advisory team in Leeds, part of leading independent business rescue and recovery specialist Begbies Traynor Group plc, has been recognised in this year’s Yorkshire Dealmaker Awards for its work on the MBO of Expect Distribution which won the Deal of the Year (between £5m-£25m).

Led by BTG Advisory partner, Martin Barron, the team carried out pre-lend work on the deal which saw the Bradford-based logistics business move into the hands of an incoming management team led by Matthew Kilner and Andy Taylor after having been run by the Rushworth family for the last 30 years.

With over 300 staff and 130 vehicles across four sites, Expect Distribution delivers bespoke packages from palletised and international distribution to contract logistics for clients such as Astonish, Card Factory and Boost Drinks.

The transaction was supported by significant new debt facilities provided by Shawbrook Bank. BTG Advisory’s work focussed on the business plan put in place by the MBO team. The wider transaction involved a range of other professional advisers in the region including Azets, Clarion, Mazars, Gunnercooke and Ramsdens.

Martin Barron commented: “We are proud to see this transaction, led by Shawbrook Bank, recognised with this award – it’s a great demonstration of the strength of the region’s professional advisory community and the value they add to Yorkshire’s SMEs.”

Begbies Traynor Group’s advisory offering works under the BTG Advisory brand to support organisations, their owners and funders, through periods of strategic, operational or organisational change.
