Staff at Sheffield’s Taylor&Emmet LLP have capped off a mountain-sized fundraiser for local charity, Paces, by handing over a cheque for £3,000.
The solicitors have donated £3,000 to the specialist support centre for children with Cerebral Palsy and other motor disorders, following a year of fundraising.
All money raised by Taylor&Emmet staff will benefit the New Home for Paces appeal that aims to raise £1 million to build a new facility for the High Green-based organisation. The firm also funded family law partner, Lucy Rodgers’, bid to scale Kilimanjaro with Paces chief executive, Spencer Pitfield. They ascended the tallest mountain in Africa in seven days, braving extreme cold and altitude sickness, to raise awareness and funds for the campaign.
Led by the firm’s clinical negligence team, in particular solicitor, Corinna Lincoln, fundraising has included two pub quizzes, a greyhound race night and bake sales throughout the year. In May, a cycling challenge was organised that saw 19 staff pit their fitness against the University of Sheffield’s legal department and Mercure St. Paul’s gym and spa, to see how many times they could cover the height of Kilimanjaro in one day. It was won by St Paul’s.
