Taylor&Emmet wins prestigious probate award

Sheffield’s Taylor&Emmet LLP has been crowned Solicitor Firm of the Year (North) at yesterday’s Wills and Probate Awards.

The firm learned of its win during a virtual ceremony, hosted by journalist, Jennie Bond, beating rivals from Manchester and Chester to take the prize.

Organised by Today’s Wills and Probate magazine, the award recognises Taylor&Emmet’s innovation, professionalism and efforts to continue delivering important services in unprecedented conditions.

Richard King, head of Taylor&Emmet’s wills and probate department, said: “This is a fantastic achievement for us. It was an honour to represent Yorkshire on a national stage and to win against some serious competition from elsewhere in the north. We have worked hard to retain our usual levels of service, despite the challenging circumstances we have faced this year, and this award is testament to the dedication my team has demonstrated to clients.”

The wills and probate department is one of the largest in Yorkshire and the Humber and has 29 permanent staff, based at four of the firm’s five offices across South Yorkshire and North Derbyshire. During lockdown, they visited back gardens and driveways to witness wills, held video calls with new and existing clients and even attended the Northern General Hospital in full PPE to help a patient put in place a deathbed will.
