Trio of Huddersfield property firms partner up to provide accommodation for NHS workers

Huddersfield based property firm Bramleys is working in collaboration with property developer SKA Developments and contractors Big Red to offer accommodation for NHS staff who are not able to return home during the Coronavirus pandemic.

The companies have worked together to ensure all empty student properties across SKA Developments property portfolio are being used to provide relief for staff who need to be safely housed while working in a high-risk environment.

Three members of NHS staff including a staff nurse and two student nurses have already been accommodated with one commenting “Due to our parents all being in the high-risk category we needed to make arrangements to move out of our homes quickly in order to enable us to continue to do our job in the NHS while protecting our parents who are self-isolating at home. We contacted Bramleys in the morning to see how they could help and by the evening we had the keys and were moving in.”

The accommodation is primarily in pods of four, with all bedrooms featuring an en-suite with double bed, wardrobes, desk and TV. The pods include a fully functioning communal kitchen that features fridges, fridge-freezers and dishwashers. The town centre accommodation is inclusive of bills and free Wi-Fi is available. Chargeable communal laundry services are all available on all sites.

Helen Hollingsworth, Lettings Partner at Bramleys, said: “With NHS staff across the country under immense pressure, we wanted to play our part in making sure staff can keep their families safe and can have somewhere to have a much-needed break in between shifts. We are extremely lucky to work with such great local companies, who are all are dedicated to supporting our amazing frontline workers”.

Zeb Pervaiz, Managing Director at SKA Developments, said: “We have worked with Bramleys for a number of years, so we are thrilled to be working closely with the team on this initiative. We are working hard to offer as much support to the local NHS staff during these turbulent times”.
