One of Yorkshire’s leading house builders is celebrating its first year as a patron of The Principle Trust Children’s Charity.

In April 2022 Skipton Properties announced its patronage of the Skipton-based charity, which provides free respite holidays to children who are underprivileged, disadvantaged, disabled, have life-limiting conditions, or who have experienced poverty, trauma or abuse.

Over the past twelve months, the multi award-winning company has contributed over £14,000 to the Trust, enabling dozens of disadvantaged children to experience a much-needed respite break.

The firm’s generous contribution combined regular monthly donations with a series of fundraising events which were supported by Skipton Properties management and staff. Events included The 2022 Dragon Boat Race at the Coniston Hall Estate in North Yorkshire, the Yorkshire Three Peaks, Skipton’s Santa Fun Run and the Trust’s annual charity ball at the Craiglands Hotel in Ilkley.

Founded in 1986, the Cross Hills based company operates throughout Yorkshire and Lancashire, employing around 65 people. Its latest developments include The Alders in Skipton and Bolton Gardens in Silsden.

Launched in 2011, The Principle Trust Children’s Charity was established by Ilkley businessman Mike Davies, MBE. Over the past decade the Trust has raised over £1m, purchased six holiday homes and provided respite breaks for more than 4,500 children across the Yorkshire region.

Mr Davies commented,

“We are delighted to be celebrating Skipton Properties first year as a patron of the Principle Trust. Thanks to their support we have been able to provide vital respite breaks for dozens of disadvantaged families.’

Sarah Barraclough, Managing Director of Skipton Properties, added,

“We’re proud to be celebrating our first year as patrons of the Principle Trust. As a family firm, our traditional family values align closely with the work of the Trust and we’re pleased to support them in helping disadvantaged families to escape their everyday troubles and create valuable, happy memories.
